Who we are

Barnyard Barter & Vending helps neighbors swap, share and sell home-grown food, plants and garden goods. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect

- Account details: your email address, display name, password (stored only as a secure hash) and plan.

- Location: your zip code, which we turn into an approximate neighborhood. If you pin a plant stand, use "Away from home" or tap "near me", we use your device location at that moment. We never track your location in the background.

- Phone number: used only to verify you by text message and, if you ask, to text a password reset code. It is never shown to other members.

- Content you share: listings, photos, plant stands, messages, trade offers, holds, reviews, reports and beta feedback.

- Activity: which listings and storefronts members view (shown to owners only as totals), words you search for (shown to neighbors only as anonymous totals in "Neighbors are looking for" and in demand alerts to growers), swaps completed, and app notifications.

- Device: a push notification token so we can send alerts you've turned on.

How we use it

- To run the app: show nearby listings and stands, match Haves with Wants, deliver messages and alerts, and keep your account secure.

- To keep the community safe: verify phone numbers, review reports and enforce the Community Guidelines.

- To improve the app: totals like views and plan choices help us and Vendors understand what neighbors want.

- We do not sell your personal information, show third-party ads, or track you across other apps or websites.

What other members see

- Your display name, neighborhood (not your address), member-since date, badges, ratings and reviews, and your active listings.

- Vendors also show the storefront details they choose to add (website, pickup hours, payment methods).

- Exact stand locations are shown only when the stand owner chooses an exact pin.

Service providers

We use trusted providers only to run the app: cloud hosting and database, secure photo storage, Twilio (text message verification), Google Firebase / Apple push services (notifications) and an email delivery service (password reset codes and feedback). They may process your data only on our behalf.

How long we keep it

- We keep your data, including your email address and phone number, while your account is open. Listings expire automatically; expired and traded listings stay in your history until you delete them or your account.

- When you delete your account, your email address, phone number, profile, listings, photos, stands, reviews you wrote, alerts, follows and notifications are erased right away. Messages you sent stay in the other person's chat but show as "Former member". Basic safety records (for example a past suspension) may be kept as the law allows.

Your choices and rights

- Edit your name, zip code and storefront details any time in Profile.

- Turn location, camera, photo and notification permissions on or off in your phone's Settings.

- Delete your account in the app: Profile → Delete my account. You can also email us to request a copy or deletion of your data.

- Get a copy of your data any time: Profile → Email me my data sends a readable copy to your account email.

Children

Barnyard Barter & Vending is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the "Last updated" date above and let you know in the app for important changes.
